RESEARCH SKILLS FOR HYPNOTHERAPISTS
28th October 2018, 9.30am – 5pm
£125
The aim of this Research Skills Workshop is to make research easy to understand, easy to incorporate into your practice, and easy to conduct for yourself!
In this interactive and practical workshop, you will gain skills that will enable you to understand the research process, interpret and assess published research; and apply relevant principles and concepts within your therapy practice.
You will discover what ‘evidence-based practice’ and ‘practice-based evidence’ offer hypnotists, hypnotherapists and talking therapists. Such understanding and use of contemporary research can really adding depth and breadth to your knowledge and enhance your practice.
A great way of gaining a deeper research awareness, is to conduct your own research. This workshop will also help you explore ways that you could audit your own practice, as well as conducting experimental research and systematic reviews. Undertaking audits and research can also benefit your practice, providing a richer understanding of your own work.
To illustrate the research process, a six-stage model for conducting research will be introduced. Each stage, of concept, design, pilot, active research, analysis, and writing up, will be discussed. Aspects of quantitative and qualitative approaches will be considered, together with varied methodology and methods, such as interviewing and the use of questionnaires. Time will also be spent considering the process for data analysis, including thematic analysis and statistical analysis.
As a result of participating in this workshop, you will gain an insight into the different types of research possible for the hypnotherapy practitioner to use and to undertake, together with the clear advantages this will offer.
Kate Beaven-Marks is a highly qualified and diversely experienced clinical hypnotist and hypnotherapist, with extensive specialist training including medical hypnosis, NLP, REBT, H-CBT, EMDR, IEMT, addictions and trauma. Kate is an experienced clinical supervisor, and Approved Supervisor with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH). Her skills and knowledge are supported by six years of research into hypnotherapy teaching and learning for her Doctorate, together with Masters degrees in Psychology and Health Management.
She has therapy practices in West London and East London, and also works with a London teaching hospital, providing training for medical staff and also using hypnotherapy with in-patients and day cases.
Kate teaches with HypnoTC, both on the practitioner training and CPD. In addition, using her extensive research knowledge and skills, Kate lectures on research topics in a London University, supervising and examining MSc. Degree research students.
With a keen interest in raising standards within the profession, she is a member of the Hypnotherapy Profession Specific Board with the voluntary regulator, the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and is also Chair of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH). In addition, she writes articles for prominent publications, and regularly speaks at both national and international conferences.

Building Scripts for Change: Writing hypnotic and persuasive scripts
24th November 2018
£125

When people first train in hypnosis and hypnotherapy, they are often given and use standard scripts. This helps build confidence but does not build creative or flexible application. I know some hypnotists who still just buy more scripts to use.
The aim of this workshop is to explore how scripts are structured and built so you can:
•Write specifically for each client
•Write your own scripts to sell as MP3 downloads
•Develop during the client session and deliver live
You will have clear and practical techniques to:
•Identify key language used by the client
•Build metaphor / stories into your sessions
•Apply the infinity strategy to strengthen the impact
•Use ambiguity powerfully
•Nest messages to be more impactful
The workshop will be theoretical and practical. By the end of the day you will be writing with confidence; you will also have shared at least one unique script with the group.

Making your therapy practice Autism Friendly
Free course emailed to you on request
Autism is defined by the National Autistic Society as 'a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and how they experience the world around them'. Around 700,000 people in the UK may be autistic, or more than 1% of the population, so it's quite likely that some of the clients who present to your practice are on the autistic spectrum. You may not necessarily be working with them for issues directly connected to their autism, but the condition is inevitably part of how they respond to the world. By understanding it - and them - more fully, you can make the experience of therapy as positive and easy as possible.
This course is written by a mother and daughter team. Debbie Waller is an experienced therapist, writer and trainer. Rachel Waller, also an experienced author, is on the Autistic spectrum herself. They have put together this course for therapists and others who provide services to those with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorders) to help you understand the challenges they face, and to provide them with the support they need.
The course covers:
*What is autism?
*The triad of impairments
*Wider aspects of autism
*How autism affects daily life
*Tips for making your practice autism friendly

HYPNOTHERAPY for PARKINSON’S DISEASE
£650
A Skype Course
As a result of evidence based trials conducted throughout the world, hypnotherapy as a complementary treatment for chronic and progressive conditions such as Parkinson's disease (PD) has recently come to the attention of the medical community. This is very good news for both Parkinson’s patients and clinical hypnotherapists alike!

Unfortunately, there are relatively few hypnotherapists in the world who are able to include Parkinson’s in their treatment lists, and even fewer who claim it as a speciality. With an estimated 6.3 million people worldwide with PD, this is a need that must be urgently addressed.
To help remedy this I’ve created a unique 6week Skype course entitled ‘Hypnotherapy for Parkinson’s Disease’. The course is comprehensive, content rich, and consists of 6 consecutive 1hour sessions conducted oneonone for maximum training value.
During the course you’ll learn how to address the mental and emotional impact that inevitably accompanies a diagnosis of Parkinson’s. In order to treat specific symptoms you’ll receive instruction in techniques and protocols based on cutting edge neuroscience. And actual case studies will be utilised to illustrate how these work in the therapy room.
The course is augmented by supplementary material which will be emailed to you in pdf format. This will include guidelines for methods and techniques taught during the course, treatment planning for a variety of scenarios, relevant peerreviewed articles, and several of my original scripts and inductions. Upon completion of the course you’ll receive a ‘Certificate of Completion’ and a receipt for tax purposes.
A bonus of completing the course is that you’ll periodically receive uptodate PDrelated research material from me at no extra cost.
Because the rewards can be great, most hypnotherapists enjoy a challenge. If you’d like to challenge yourself, expand your expertise, and become a hypnotherapist who’s able to treat some of the many who live with Parkinson’s, then this is the course for you!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me to arrange a preliminary chat.
