Core learnings
1. Suggestions work best if they are targeted precisely at a prob-lematic belief or behaviour of the client and utilizes a technique that matches how the client’s mind functions.
2. The hypnotist first identifies the problem behaviour and its un-derlying belief before formulating the goals with the client, which are used to write the suggestion script.
3. Although many ready-made scripts are available and useful for various conditions, writing a script on the fly has the benefit that it is tailor-made and caters for specific personality features, goals, expectations, behaviours and beliefs of the individual cli-ent.
4. The script writing begins with the client writing down his pre-senting complaint, what change he would want to achieve through hypnosis and list as many as possible benefits that he would experience if successful.
5. This information is discussed further and clarified with the client in the pre-induction talk after which it forms the basis of the script.
6. Every different stage of hypnosis requires a suitable tone, pitch and volume of voice that is compatible to the message being de-livered and the client’s personality.
7. Relaxation and hypnotic induction typically requires a low, soothing and quiet voice but with spoken words clear and loud enough to avoid the client from straining.
8. Instructions and suggestions can be given in a more commanding and authoritative voice; the tone must be confident and persua-sive, and the pace faster to distract the conscious mind.
9. In the process of awakening, the hypnotist’s voice is soothing but returns to normal so that the client can easily reorient.
10. Repetitions and pauses are often utilized to drive and reinforce suggestions.

A Methodology for Developing Scripts – Online Diploma Certificate
Distance Learning
£55
Many hypnotherapy students may have trained in a directive and/or heavily script-based style of therapy. They may wish to extend their expertise away from ‘off-the-shelf’ scripts and learn how to create their own, but don’t have the knowledge or confidence to do so. Even those who have trained without being script-dependent, may still struggle with developing their own and therefore resort to predominantly reading scripts.
PSI trained students are taught to work in an impromptu form, with emphasis given to tailoring interventions to an individual client’s needs. ‘Read’ scripts are rarely used.
Whatever your prior training, we hope that this methodology for developing scripts will be useful and allow you to build on your existing knowledge. This course covers everything from the PSI approach to trance-work to the actual writing of scripts, with plenty of examples throughout. The latter will include simple copy-and-paste examples of Ericksonian language patterns. You can use these partials in an ad hoc fashion when working with our step interventions or within your own scripts.
Upon successful completion of the course assessment, we will also send you a selection of complete scripts you can print out and use within your consultations.
